The conflict between wanting to help yourself and wanting to help others.
While reading today's Book-Of-The Day, "Heroes of History," where author Will Durant traces the origins of human civilization, I was struck by this quote:
“...the profound and continuing conflict between nature and civilization—between the individualistic instincts so deeply rooted in the long hunting stage of human history, and the social instincts more weakly developed by a recently settled life.”
So just remember, you will always have to find a balance between selfishness and unselfishness. No one can give you an exact formula.
