Summary
Are carbs healthy for you? Short answer, depends on how much amylase your body produces.

Not everything is good for everyone. Carbs are healthy for some people, and not so much for others.

The Saltine Cracker test is the simplest way for you to know how many carbs you should be eating.

This is actually backed by science. I even had a doctor react to the video I made talking about this.

She basically said it’s correct.

How To Do The Saltine Cracker Test
Simple. Take a saltine cracker, put it in your mouth and start a timer.

Stop the timer when the saltine cracker turns sweet.

Sounds crazy, I know. It’ll turn sweet.

The faster the saltine cracker turns sweet, the more carbs you can eat.

It takes about 30 seconds for me. I know someone who lasts 3 seconds before the cracker turns sweet!

I Did The Test. What Does It Mean?
  1. It took 10 seconds or less to turn sweet: Your body is very efficient at breaking down carbs. You’re efficient at producing amylase.

You can probably eat 300 to 400 grams of carbs per day (not medical advice).

  2. It took around 30 seconds: You still break down carbs, you’re just not as efficient.

You can probably eat 200-300 grams of carbs per day (not medical advice).

  3. It took more than 45 seconds to turn sweet: Your body doesn’t break down carbs efficiently.

You should probably eat less carbs. Maybe 100 to 200 grams per day (not medical advice).

Use common sense. Don’t base your diet only on one test though. Make sure you speak with a trained professional.

It’s funny that I have to write that disclaimer.
