What I Learned From The Rousey Fight

Tai Lopez Nov 23, 2015

Life is a little bit like a fight.

A fight against procrastination and weakness, the influence of low energy people, and financial trouble.

Last night, I had a charity dinner party to raise money for disabled veterans (if you want to donate to a great charity, they are at www.woundedwarriorproject.org).

We also had the Ronda Rousey UFC fight on.

Ryron Gracie was here watching it and commentating (he's a famous black belt and his grandfather is the co-founder of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu). I did a video with his brother, Rener Gracie, that you can check out on my Youtube channel.

It was a huge upset.

Holly Holm knocked Ronda out in the second round with a kick to the neck.

I saw it coming because Ronda's opponent, Holly, was being super smart and selective about picking her battles (Holly's style reminded me of Chuck Liddell's for those of you who are UFC fans).

The next day, I texted Ryron to ask what the life lesson was.

Here is what he texted me back:

That is some good advice that applies to all areas of life.

When it comes to business and social life, so many people are in frantic activity mode that they forget to step back and observe.

To be cool in the heat of the moment...

To control strong reactionary emotions...

To stick to a well-thought-out strategy instead of getting impatient and rushing your goals.

Don't be "P.I." - Patiently Impatient...

Instead be "I.P." - Impatiently Patient...

Big difference.

Be impatient to get started on your goals. Don't procrastinate.

But once you are in the heat of life's battles, be patient.

Remember the wise words of billionaire Charlie Munger: "Step by step you get ahead, but not necessarily in fast spurts. But you build discipline by preparing for fast spurts. Slug it out one inch at a time, day by day. At the end of the day – if you live long enough – most people get what they deserve."

What's your biggest area of weakness in terms of being impatient?

I would love to hear your reply.

Stay strong,
Tai
